I enjoy reading, writing, MMA, keeping reptiles, traveling, self improvement and technology. If I had to describe myself I would say I am a man of many facets..

THIS IS MY BLOG...

This is where I put all my incoherent ramblings for the world to read. This little site filled with random thoughts, opinions and facts is an extention of myself. As you can probably tell from viewing my library of books I have read here on nixbased and the reviews I have written I am a real believer in the marketing mythologies of Seth Godin. Due to reading All Marketers Are Liars I had the desire to explore his pervious books.

Purple Cow was a book that intrigued me, the meaning of purple cow really is “a remarkable product”. In this book Seth writes in his trademark fashion of telling stories to illustrate his point. Godin shows in a straightforward manner that traditional marketing no longer works. We cannot as business people throw money in traditional advertising and expect a mediocre product to sell. Customers today are already satisfied with what is out there so we need to provide a product that people will really talk about and the early adopters will take a chance on.

The book explains that playing it safe and using traditional marketing and producing yet another product focused at “everyone” no longer works. We need to be innovative with both our marketing approach and our products; we need to think outside the box. If you are creating a new product or service this book is a must. We are all marketers, we just have to follow the correct game plan and Seth provides that.
